Noises are very difficult to diagnose over the internet. My question to you would be, do you have any other issues that preceded the grinding noise or any other problems now?
While a transmission is definitely a possibility, I would think that there are 2 other options more likely the culprit than the transmission based on my experiences on this product. First, I would suggest a drain pump issue. Second, I would consider a problem with the splutch mechanism.
If you can provide any more detailed infortmation (ie. a better idea of where the noise is coming from, a certain cycle that causes the noise to happen etc) I will be happy to do my best and assist you further.
