This is a top load Kenmore washer, the suspension rods look good, everything looks good when I open it up. I cannot see anything wrong. When it goes into spin cycle the tub goes side to side like it is off balance. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi. It is common for the tub of these units to bang against the sides of the cabinets a little as it goes into high speed spin or slows down from a high speed spin. As long as the shocks are good and the unit is level it could just be off balance loads. With this type of suspension, these unit go off balance a lot easier that other models. Make sure the customer is not running small loads. Small loads are the worst as they will ball up to one area of the tub and cause this to be much worse. I would go into the diagnostic mode and check your stored error codes. Also, with the unit empty run the auto test and see how it does. I do not think the auto test will give a full speed spin so run a drain and spin with no clothes or a manual spin test. I have attached the tech sheet for you and some videos for this style washer.

Hello
This is the VMW style unit. Of course first check for overloading or uneven loads. Then second check and see if you can push the tub down , it should only rebound one time and should be fairly stiff . If it bounces two or three times the suspension rods are going bad. Replace rods.
