why does Kenmore upright freezer top shelf have a big big frost built up none of the other shelfs do this this is a very simple unit manual defrost no interior fan.
have replaced the door gasket with new one did the dollar bill test to gasket there seems to be no leaks. the unit is located in a enclosed garage with no hvac. its in the southwest of ala. with very high humidity most days

Hello, On this kind of freezer the shelf’s are part of the sealed system. The top shelf is the starting point of the evaporator/shelving. With it having frost build up on the top shelf you will have a sealed system issue. If you are not EPA certified you will need to find someone who is to do the repair. But it typically not worth the cost to fix.
