My question has nothing to do with the specific model number of above. A coworker and I changed out a bad compressor. It ran for 2 days, then stopped. We were discussing our problem with other techs. One of the other tech asked us how we filled the new compressor with freon. We told him that we filled it with liquid on the low side line like we always do.
He said that we improperly filled the compressor and thus, broke it. He told us that the only way to properly fill a compressor is liquid on the high side and vapor on the low side. Now, we have made over 25 compressor change outs, and never had a problem.
What is the “only” or is there an “only way to fill a compressor?
Replaced the compressor and now waiting for your response.
As always, thank you for your much needed assistance

Hello
We use A PRO-Charge Freon Refrigerant Scale when charging to dial in the exact amount of refrigerant recommended by the factory nameplate. We also make sure we bleed the refrigerant of air before charging and and evacuate the system. We have charged and replaced over 1000 compressors and evaporators. We were trained by Whirlpool factory trainers to charge liquid on the low / suction side. We have NEVER had any issues charging this way . I believe your issues or secondary problem are a plugged braze on refrigerant line or filter dryer . You need to go back and evaluate the unit by putting g the gauges on to check your pressures. Thank you Matt. I know that my question was very “wordy”. I’m sorry about that. I have 2 more questions. You mentioned that you use (a pro-charge freon refridgerant scale) when charging a unit. Q- how do you put the freon in the compressor? Q- is there only one proper way? Thanks again

Hey Matt I just finished watching the video link that you sent. We did exactly the same thing that you did. Thanks again
