GOOD MORNING. I LOOKED AT WASHER, CHECKED THE PLAY IN TUMBLER AND IT WAS VERY BAD. I BELIEVE IT IS A BAD BEARING, AND THE PARTS AND LABOR FOR THESE JOBS, USUALLY MAKES THE CUSTOMER PURCHASE A NEW MACHINE. I WAS TOLD HOWEVER, THE MACHINE WILL STILL COMPLETE A LOAD, WITH A LOT OF CLUNKING. COULD THIS BE SOME OTHER EASIER REPAIR? THANKS FOR YOUR TIME, TODD FROM NY.

More than likely you have a bad bearing and/or a broken spider on the back of the basket. You could take a look at the pulley on the back of the washer to make sure the nut holding it in place is not loose. That’s about the only other possible thing to cause this.
