I checked on this washer which at first had a lid lock issue. We replaced the lid lock and worked fine for a couple months. Afterwards, we went back out with the same error code and the lid lock tested fine which we were going to replace the control board. We went back out finding the error code is now gone but the F7E5 error code not pops up. We replaced the board and the same code popped up, we also replaced the shift actuator which did not change anything on the unit. Afterwards we went through each step on the test #3a finding no issues with the shifter or the wire harness. Is this something that could also be caused by the motor?

Hello

The F7E1 Error Fault is displayed when the main control cannot determine speed of basket, or speed changes too quickly.
1) Locked rotor—check that basket, impeller, and motor can rotate freely.
2) Check harness connections from main control to motor and shifter.
3) See TEST #3a: Drive System–Shifter, page 13 in technician sheet link below.

So the issue was that the F7 E5 error code popped up not the F7E1
  • This is what the tech sheet states for the F7E5 error code: Fault is displayed when the main control cannot determine position of shifter.• Check harness connections from main control to motor and shifter.• Observe shifter operation.• See TEST #3a: Drive System–Shifter, page 13. I almost always find a bad shifter when I get this error code. Run the auto test mode in diagnostics. Look at the shifter when it moves into position for agitation and for spin. See what happens. You could have a faulty cam that is not allowing the shifter arm to move into the correct position. See if the unit fails in the test mode.
