My washing machine fills up but doesn’t actually start. I came down hours later to find it had never began the load I put in. I was able to restart it and it worked all day yesterday. Just came down to find the same thing today. Why would it work sometimes and not others?

Dorothy, from your description I’d start with the lid switch. It communicates to the washer that the lid is down and will start cycling once full. If it is loose, or broken, it will not begin. Sometimes what you described happens as it’s failing, and then when you open and close the lid a few times it may catch it just right and work without a problem. If you’d like to do this repair yourself I can find a video that’s similar to your model, or I’d suggest calling a local company to come do the work for you. It is a common repair and one that will get you right back up and running. Hope this helps!
