My Samsung gas dryer, DV419AG, is two weeks old, I have 21 feet of 3″ dryer vent cleaned today and it is still taking a LONG time to dry 8 towels, about 2 hours. It is not getting too hot, runs heater only for 30 secs. It says in manual it should have a 4 inch vent pipe, I am in a condo and it is old vent pipe 3″, should I replace it or is there a cutoff switch that can be set for heater to stay on longer to heat up the dryer? HELP.
The thermostats rely on the interior temp of the dryer. This being said, if the vent is restricted, the dryer heats up quickly and then holds (retains) the heat longer then it should and the heat does not come on as soon as it should. There are no parts that can be replaced to overcome this EXCEPT proper venting. By reducing the diameter by 25% you are really reducing the volume of air by near 40%.
