Hello,
This unit started skipping the spin/drain cycle several weeks ago (using the 1oclock to 5 oclock section of the timer).
Manual rotation of timer dial to other spin mode locations worked for a while,
Now it will not spin/drain at all.
The last attempt to try I manually manipulated the tub and manually rotated the belt (the transmission and pump spun), a switch retry seemed to get it to work for a second and stopped…. now nothing seems to work.
There is no humming, the agitate runs and timer advances etc., the lid switch seems stops the agitate mode etc.
It seems there is no switch on/current to the motor for the spin action.
I have a voltmeter and can make a direct test power harness etc (saw a youtube that suggested that to test the motor.)
Thanks,
Russ

Attached is the Service manual for your unit. On page 1-19 it shows how to test the motor. It looks like the start winding will be the blue and yellow wires at the motor. You can check here for voltage here while in a spin cycle to see if your getting power to the motor,, or with power off you can check the winding for resistance. The resistance values are in the manual as well. Let me know if you need any further assistance on this one.

Would a purple be the blue? Is there a way to send you a picture of the motor terminal / switch unit? There are BK, BR, PU, RD, WH, YL and OR. The PU seems to be on the end of a switch activated by the centrifugal device (as the BU is in the diagram). My model is not specifically listed in that manual, very close to others listed.(LAT8826AAE)

If I switch YL and PU and run agitate mode, would it run reverse and spin/pump… or do I need to make the test harness?
  • DO you have access to the wire schematic on your unit? It should be located under the control panel. That way we can get our colors correct. Purple could possibly be blue. I’m not sure if switching those wires would cause the motor to run in reverse. Need a good schematic to look at, but we should be able to diagnose this with out doing that. Also check you speed switch on the control panel as well for failure. This could cause the motor to not run. Did you seem to get any voltage at all down at the motor in a spin cycle? You said the lid switch tested good? When you open the lid in agitation it stops the cycle?

Hi. It sounds like it could be a timer issue. Especially since it would not work on one cycle, but it would on the others. I’m currently trying to locate a tech sheet to give you some test points so we can diagnose this unit. I will get back to you soon.
