I recently replaced a evap fan motor (PN#wr49x25197) and supposed to update software with provided kit.
Unplugged refrigerator & made repair, plugged back in and now the display keeps rebooting, and the ice / water dispenser does not work at all, and no buttons function.
I have tried the reboot procedure GE had told me to perform by unplugging between 30 and 45 seconds, no more than a minute. This did not correct the issue, the refrigerator seems to work along with the freezer, so no operational issues from the main controller.
Customer is PISSED off and I cant get any help from GE.
I did notice that when I initially re plugged in the refrigerator, the plug contact made a spark when engaged in to the outlet, and I know how electronics are sensitive to power issues.

I have also done the update for the software supplied with the BOX and RJ45 patch cord in the kit with the blower motor.

Hello
See complete information links below we have on this model. There are no service bullitens related to your issue on this model. You need to get the unit into the diagnostic mode, if you cannot get it into the diagnostic mode and you did the software update you have to start with the display board. Matt Ace technician
Entering Service Diagnostics
Enter Service mode by pressing the “Water”, “Crushed”, and “Cubed” buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
The display will show 00 in the FZ temperature display and 00 in the FF temperature display. All the components will tirn off, the 3- wat valve will go in home position. and the temperature display shows 00 in each of the FZ and FF displays. LCD Display: Use the up and down buttons on the left to increment
increment the 1’s place to select the desired test. Press any key other than the temp adjust keys to run test.
The test mode must be selected within 5 minutes of entering the diagnostic mode or it will time-out, normal refrigerator operation will resume. Once a test mode is selected, the display will show the results of the mode selected. Run test 0016 to exit diagnostics and return to normal operation.
The control will reset to normal operation if power is cycled.
Non-dispenser needs service kit.

As you know Electronics are very sensitive and anything could have happened once that plug sparked. Do you have the old evaporator fan motor that you can install to see if you can get the unit back into the original diagnostic mode? I would try that first and if you cannot do that you will have no other choice except to replace the display board to get the unit into the diagnostic mode. We haven’t had many circumstances that we had to unplug or reset the board. It sounds like you have made every attempt to do that with no luck unfortunately. I know this puts you in a tough circumstance and I feel for you, we have been there before. Please keep us in the loop to let us know if any of these attempts worked for you or what the final outcome is. We would like to let our thousands of other members know how this works out. As technology advances we all need to work together to try to find Solutions.

I will keep you updated, will be getting approval to order the board, and will report back right after I make the repair. Thank you for your time and assistance. Even seasoned mechanics and techs need a bit of confirmation when dealing with electronics that are acting funky.

One last thing I thought of if you’re going to replace the board. Buy it from Repair Clinic because you have a 100% return policy for one year. Although you’ll pay a little bit more money you can return it if that doesn’t rectify the issue 100%. Most other parts Distributors will not let you return a installed part.

Well after waiting for a backordered part for almost 3 weeks we received it installed the part and indeed we have confirmed that the board with the color graphic display is faulty. Once I replace the display board it started functioning as it should. Just wanted to share this follow-up information in case somebody else has this problem in the future.
