We have run across 5 of these stack units in the last couple of months where they are very noisy in spin. When we try to take them apart, the spin basket hub is froze to the transmission shaft. We cannot get these seperated by any means. So to fix, it needs transmission assembly, inner basket and outer basket, so it is junk.
Are there more of you running into this? I would like to know how serious this is. We see a lot of these in the condo’s we work in.

One of our technicians has actually sold this repair to a landlord. This GE stack unit retails for $1260.00. The days of $800.00 stack washer and dryers is currently over. No brand is offering a full size washer and dryer stack under $1200. We repaired the unit for around $850.00. The landlord decide to repair the unit, because it was only a few years old, and the new one would be over $1300 with sales tax.
