Initial complaint: unit is working normally but board dead; cannot see display and can’t program. Installed control board: display still dead; 12vdc to ground at all 3 wires; replaced display board; same result. Had 12v at all 3 wires to display board. Am I not checking the DC voltage properly? What am I missing here. on previous calls, replacing the main board has always corrected a dead display (unless the display board was shot). Bad control board(though I’ve tried two, I’m well aware of the problems with the 942 board)? Thanks in advance for your help.
One trick we use in the field to eliminate other DC shorts is to temporarily disengage the J2 connector and see if a fan motor might be dragging the voltage down to the display or in some cases, the compressor. The door switches must also work properly for the display to illuminate. Let us know if this helps diagnose
