customer brought washer in and complains that when unit is at the rinse cycle it will stop an d thats it. I thought the temp switch was the culprit pt number w101u84148 but i dont know how to check the pt with my meter.

What have you tried so far?

I replaced the pt with old one i had and the washer did go thru the cycle then i replaced the original pt back on and it went thru the cycle so i am thinking may be the timer is bad.

Hi. I would check and suspect your lid switch first. Make sure the screws for the hinges are tight and that the lid is not pushed in. If everything is good it could be the ATC switch you installed. I have seen a lot of these go bad. Usually when you unplug the machine and the swith, it will reset the unit and work for awhile. There is not a way that I know of to test this switch with a meter. Now that it is working, it would not test bad either. If the lid switch is good I would monitor the unit until it has an issue again and then replace this switch if everything g else checks out good.

thanks Brian so you dont think the timer would be the problem either? I am with you that maybe the atc switch is bad
  • I am not thinking the timer is bad since the unit ran through a couple of loads with no issues. It’s possible but not likely.
