on this unit it will start only while the push to start button is held down.
Customer said push to start button is brand new and i also checked it and it checks good.

Yes, it could be something like a broken wire.I did not see a separate start relay anywhere on this one. I still think the most likely part would be the motor. The motor has a start and a run winding. The start winding is working to start it as long as you hold the button and then when you let go it stops because the run winding may be damaged. Like I said before I have never seen or heard of a bad timer causing this to happen, but anything is possible. This unit is a basic dryer and does not have a informative service manual. I have done some digging and found a tech sheet that would be similar to this unit. This would be the sheet that is in the control panel and the only technical information that would be available on this unit.

Brian this is embarrasing but i finally found the problem and i apologize for the enconbenience, but since the customer had said the push to start button was new and i checked it anyway i took it for granted that she had put the wires back on as were on the old one.My friend from Sears told me just like you told me that since the motor ,lid switch and belt switch and timer was okay i should start looking for a bad wire, well i started back tracking and man i notice she had put the red wires coming from or going to the run on the motor on the wrong prong. I switched the brown going to the start to the prong the red going to the run bothe to the motor and there it is, I am a happy ,hombre . Thanks Brian and thanks for the teck sheet. I looked at it and that is when i notice the wires were wrong.

Oh and the reason that when she pushed the startn button before and let off and the motor would quit was because the belt switch was bad. When she put the new start switch on , she did not know the belt switch was bad and she also had the wires on the wrong prongs, and even if they would have been on the right pace the unit was going to act the same cause the belt switch was bad.

No need to be embarrassed. When your following up someone else’s work it usually makes things more difficult, especially if its a customers work. I’m glad the tech sheet helped you find the solution and we finally got it fixed!

I have seen bad belts switches on these units cause this symptom. I would check the belt switch first. Here are some videos that show this repair.

Yes i can understand cause you are here and i am over here and you cannot see what i am checking on the darn unit and i imagine you are trying to help me out ,the only thing that really gets me is All this appliances have schematics to them, and you cannot get me a service repair manual???That is the reason one pays to have this service I know I have come across some disgruntted customers but see what we can do to get this darn thing going. My friend from sears told me it was probabthe timer aso here we go once i find out i will post it remedy, might not be that much to it, you know sometimes the problem is right in front of us and we cannot see it, i am thinking it could be a bad wire but anyway thanks Brian
