It sounds like it may be a part of the defrost system. Have you checked the evaporator for an even frost pattern? See tech. sheet link below. Matt Ace technician

found out this fridge has a manual rod going to the damper so that is not the problem. Frost pattern was weak all over so i attached a piercing valve and added some freon and brought frost pattern on evaporater up to parr, but even then the fridge is still warm seems like the freezer fan is not strong enough so as to send the cold air up to the damper and into fridge. Also when fridge door is open i cannot feel air coming in even though freezer fan is going on.

Check for air flow restrictions. If the evaporator is clogged with frost, or the return air flow vent could be block with ice. When you recharged the system with refrigerant did you reclaim all the old refrigerant and recharge it to the exact amount that this unit calls for? If not it could easily be under or overcharged.

Brian i dont do this to my customers this unit is mine and was trying to see if i could get it going and at same time try something i dont do at all. I attached the piercing valve and attached the gauges pressure was negative 10 added some freon and i could see the frost pattern on evaporator getting frosted even all over so i shut it down, because gauge still showed negative 10. Later i thought well something is not right because i got low side frosted and still no cool in fridge side. What a mess right. Well its good that it is mine but i will keep messing with it till i get it right.. I am wondering if i have a restriction in the drier, what u say hombre.

The low side line frosted up near the compressor? If so then you over charged it. Remove all the refrigerant in the system and charge it up to exactly what is calls for. Use a scale to put the correct amount in and see what happens. It does sound like you have a leak in the system.
