freezer not freezing after two weeks – slowly loosing freezing capacity. would a replacement coil be a worth while investment. how hard is this job? fresh food refrigerator is still working
looked at freezer coil. no frost pattern. defrost bimetal and freezer seem okay

Hello, unfortunately if the compressor is running and you have no frost pattern on the coils you will have a sealed system leak. When you have a sealed system issue you need to have a EPA certified tech come out to diagnose and replace or repair the leak. It can be a real pain to try and find you need special tools and training to diagnose where the issue is in the system.

Thank you Kris. I have replaced compressors. “A” coils etc. but never an evaporator coil in a refrigerator. my experiences of past tell me that procedures, materials, have changed or it’s pretty hard to predict success. What metals are being joined and what materials are being used. Thank you for any advice or recommend video to watch. Rick I am EPA qualified

hello, via your model number the evap already has a copper line coming off of it. So you will be doing copper to copper. standard brazing. If you are thinking about this repair first attach a uv filter dryer on it. Then charge it and wait a few days. the uv filter dryer puts a little bit of uv oil in the system. Then you need a black light and shine it on all the sealed system and it will glow and then you know where your leak is. https://www.savemoreonparts.com/part/sam/da59-00361b https://www.savemoreonparts.com/part/wpl/wpw10143759
