Customer said one time no burners would come on when set. Now the right front won’t boil water. Could this be a bad appliance manager board? Both duel elements work. Even on number 10 setting it will go off with a pan of water on it. Any advice welcome.

Hello
See parts breakdown below. Do you have power coming in the burner # 8273994. Have you tested the burner ? If not see video link. If burner is testing good go to the switch control # W10190398 and W10190396 Board, Control see tech sheet for testing. Matt

Yes the element comes on but goes on and off even at the hi setting as though it was on low. ON the diagram it looks like there is a sensor for the heat indicator light and another one for the actual burner. My question is if that one can cause the whole burner to kick on and off?

I would start by the following procedure for verifying the relay switching on the Appliance Manager that operates the right front 1200W single element. If the appliance manager is functioning properly the burner sensor could be your issue. Yes, I have seen the sensors on the element cause your issue. 1) Check for 120-volt input at T3-2 (red wire) to P5-1 (white wire) on the Appliance Manager by completing the following steps. 2.Unplug cooktop or disconnect power. 3.Connect voltage measurement equipment. 4.Plug in cooktop or reconnect power. 5.At the User Interface, press ON once for the right front element and then press any power level setting. 6.Confirm voltage reading is 120v ± 10%. If it is not, go to Step 7. If it is, unplug cooktop or disconnect power and go to Step 9.7.Unplug cooktop or disconnect power. 8.Replace the Appliance Manager. 9.Replace all parts and panels before operating. 10.Plug in cooktop or reconnect power.

Hello
The control system used on the JED4430 series downdraft cooktop has no diagnostic operation mode or temperature adjustment mode. Go to page #2 for the transformer and user interface diagnostics. Then to pages 3-5 for the diagnostic procedures on the the elements. There is one service bulletin on your product , see link below. Matt Ace technician

Isn’t there a sensor in the element that could possibility cause this? The tech sheet doesn’t tell how to test this or explain how the board causes the element to cycle.

Hi Matt. I don’t know if you found or know the answer to my question about the burner possibility causing this problem. Hope you see this reply.
