See parts diagram on page #9 in the link below. To remove this ice maker in your model there are two screws #18 in diagram that need to be removed.

the two screws are not there. we looked with a mirror and seen no screws. what should we do now? the tabs right and left on the icemaker top are there but we see no screws.

I went based from the Whirlpool factory website with your specific model to get a parts bnreakdown. Sometimes on the newer units they just clip in. Have you tried liifting up from the bottom of the ice maker to see if it just lifts out of the clips ?
