I am trying to release the transmission from the unit to further look at possible tub not spinning problems. I have seen where you have to release the internal screw from at the bottom of the dispenser that helps to hold the transmission shaft. The screw head is stripped; and I am assuming that someone else has been into the unit. Is there a way of getting the screw off; or the plastic agitator shaft completely out of the way so I can continue at removing the transmission/basket drive from the bottom.

Thanks… Fred in Lubbock. TX

HI. Sorry to hear that the bolt is stripped for the agitator. I have no good answer as to how to get that bolt out. Given the placement of that bolt down in the agitator, I can not think of any easy way to get it out with out breaking the agitator.

The only thing that i have found… which is not feasible… is to cut through the agitator so i can get to the screw/bolt since the head on it is stripped away. I suspect that another owner may have used a power tool (with attachment) on this bolt/screw head and it was over torqued causing damage to the bolt/screw. Since this washer is almost 14 yrs old – i am not wanting to destroy the agitator to get to it. It only adds to the cost of the repair; and i have not found the definite cause of the washer tub not spinning in a spin cycle… that would be an addtional cost. Thanks for previous help –
