So I have a Frigidaire refrigerator from 2009 that seems to no longer hold a steady temp in the fridge section and even when I turn the thermostat to make it colder it will turn on for about one minute and then shut off and then 3 minutes later do the same thing over and over again. There is no ice build up in the freezer and that is holding a steady temp of around 20 degrees but will not get colder than that. The fridge side will not get colder than 40 degrees and will flutcate between 40 and 45 depending on how much we open the door. Even the coldest setting on the thermostat there in no change in the fridge temp or freezer temp as well.
Tried adjusting the thermostat to the coldest setting but the fridge will contuine to short cycle. Cleaned the coils underneath of dust and dirt. Compressor turns on during the short cycling and does produce cold air and cold lines going to the evaporator in the freezer. biggest thing is during the 3 minute down time I can go inside and if the thermostat is set to normal I can turn it to cold and hear it kick on the compressor.

John , this symptom sound’s like it could be a temperature control. The control cycles the unit on and off a specific temperatures. The sensing control bulb is filled with refrigerant and will loose it sensitivity and short cycle the unit. See parts breakdown below.
