Kitchen Aid KEMS308 Built in Combo. Microwave wont heat but seemingly works otherwise. Got F1E5 Replace Micro Inverter Error.

F1E5 is a tricky error code because it does refer to the inverter board being bad and not something you can just reset. The inverter board is what powers up the magnetron to heat the food. It’s tricky because it’s not a testable failure but sometimes the magnetron is the part that actually fails and not the inverter. Either way, you can’t test which part has failed for certain, but most of the time its the inverter board which is why you need to replace the inverter board first. The board is located above the microwave so the entire microwave oven combo needs to be uninstalled and the top sheet metal panel removed to access the board above the unit for replacement.
