Hi,
This is a high end unit. Complaint was that temperature in the unit was low. Upon arrival it was apparent the condenser coils have not been cleaned in a while so we cleaned the coils. Seemed to cool properly. Got a call back that the temperature in the freezer was low. Customer saw some ice on the back wall of the freezer. He shut the unit off so it could defrost. He put it back on in the morning and we got there yesterday and all seemed well. Drawing 1.6 amps. Could someone tell me if there has any issues with this unit concerning the described problem? Any sensor or mother board issues?

When looking at the problem you are having you could have a few different potential problems. Have you checked all the defrost components? Does the unit appear to be defrosting properly? Was the ice the customer seen ice or was it frost? I would recommend running the unit for 24hrs and reevaluate the frost and cooling issue. Is the frost pattern a complete frost pattern? Was the ice the customer seen over the entire back panel or does it look like the start of a sealed system failure? Please let me know what you find after running for 24hrs.

Hi Troy, Presently it is running fine! I don’t think it is a defrost problem but have they had an issues with the main board and defrost mode! The evaporator was never covered in ice to prevent circulation. I think it is more of a board or sensor problem. Looking for guidance in that area! Thank you, JAN

Looking at the unit it has a bi metal, is that testing good? I don’t see any sensors on the unit. I am interested in the type of frost you are seeing. Is it on the food? Or just the back wall? Are both sides running higher than normal? If you are getting frost, a good bi metal, and no air leaks you would need to look to the control or thermostat.
