The ice compartment fan does not stay on all the time. When you turn turn down freezer it will run a while then cycles off. Temperture in ice maker compartment does feel freezing cold at times, but draws no water into ice maker. My question is what controls the 14 volt dc motor. Board , thermistor or what. Can I get a wiring schematicc on this model ? Or manual on how it functions. Maybe optic sensor.
I have replaced the 14 vdc motor in the ice compartment. I suspect that the water valve or ice maker is at fault or even the control Board. Or optic switch. How do I trouble shoot this unit ?

Hi. You could have a defrost issue, but if all the defrost components are testing good and you replaced the control board it must be defrosting. I have seen these units frost up for no apparent reason. It will look like a defrost issue on the top of the evaporator but the bottom of it will look fine. The frost will build up and start hitting the fan blades of the evap fan motor. I would run the diagnostics. go through all the test and make sure the sensors all pass. Run a forced defrost mode to make sure your heater turns on and starts defrosting. If everything checks out ok I would go to test 7 in the diagnostics and change the defrost setting to an 8 HR defrost. You will select number 2 in this test 7 of the diagnostic mode found in the tech sheet. This should help the frost build up.

Hi. I have attached the tech sheet and service manual for this unit for you. Since the unit is not filling with water you could have a frozen fill tube to the ice maker. It has a heater that is suppose to keep the ice maker fill tube from freezing, but it still can freeze from time to time, or the heater could be faulty. One other common thing I see on this model is a broken wire through the door. Check for continuity through the wires to the icemaker. Test at the harness at the ice maker and then at the connection under the toe panel on the left side. In the tech sheet there are tests you can run for the optics, sensors, to cycle the ice maker and more. Make sure your temps in the freezer and ice box are cold enough to make ice.

I️ have found that the ice maker motor is open, but’ could not find the 6 switches on the control board to put it in diagnostics mode. Is it on the user interface board. I️ ordered a new ice maker for it. But I️ want to put in in a diagnostic test cycle to make sure the new one will work and check codes.

Hi. Yes, the 6 buttons are going to be your user interface buttons.

I am still having problems with this refrig. Evap is freezing up now and I have replaced the electronic bd. # wpw10589838 and I have checked the heater resistance is good back to control bd and sensor also. What else could be my problem. I will go back and check for fault codes in history. Could I have an intermittent defrost heater or bad supply bd. or user interface. Can you give me some suggestion? Thanks ?
