Hi,
I looked at the titles of repair videos in your list. There are 3(I think) available LG Dryer repair videos that may be the issue, but the model number is different from mine……
1) Does that make a difference?
2) Do I have to purchase each video to find out how to fix it?
3) How can I tell which video will address my dryer’s problem?
4) I saw video titles for other brands of dryers (GE, Samsung, etc). Are the different brands and models so different from mine that one won’t apply to the other?
1) I tried opening and closing the door several times, but the machine didn’t start.
2) I then unplugged it for several minutes, plugged it in again and turned it on. The start button and other buttons didn’t work.
3) I looked for the Child Lock on my particular model(DLG7188RM). That button is not lit up and there’s no “lock symbol” displayed on the screen when I turned the dryer on.
I can’t afford to hire a technician, so I’m hoping that you can advise.

Hi. There are several things that can cause the unit to not start. A faulty door switch, belt switch, thermal fuse, broken belt, control board, touch panel etc. I have attached the service manual for your unit. You will need to do some testing to find out what the issue is. Most of the Lg dryers are going to to be very similar if not the same. Once you get into the other brands they can be very different. Samsungs would be the most similar to the LG. What happens when you press start? Does the un it act like the door is open and beep at you or does it act normal. Try pressing start with the door open and closed. If it responds differently you can assume your door switch is ok. Normally the unit will beep at you or flash when you try to start the unit with the door open. The service manual has trouble shooting as well as how to disassemble the unit.
