There’s is lots of frost and hard ice build up on ice maker and auger motor assembly and on the ice and around the ice container. Only on the top half of freezer section. Everything is cooling/freezing fine. Any ideas what could cause this?
Thanks, Allen
I looked that the dispenser flapper and it’s sealing properly. In the past we have changed ice maker and control board and made sure evap fan not running during defrost cycle. Freezer door gasket sealing properly. But no luck!

Hi. sounds like you have checked anything that could be creating this frost. Normally the only time I find frost build up at the top of these units(on the ice and bottom side of ice bucket) is when the ice chute door is not sealing. Open and close the chute door a few times to see if the solenoid could be sticking. They get rusted up a lot of times. Shine a light down through the ice chute when the chute door is closed to see if you can see any light coming through. This will let you know if it is sealing good, if you have no light coming trhough. That and the door not sealing or being left open are what creates frost to form on items in the freezer. Possibly the fan motor not running properly all the time or air flow issues. check that the air ducts are free and clear too.
