this is Kenmore/lg microwave oven. my question is can a magnetron test good and still be bad?
there is 120 v to the primary side of transformer. I tested the diode through a 12 v battery. tests ok.tested the magnetron .6 ohms. transformer tests ok. capacitor test good although there was a very fine bit of clear oil on it.

I have tried your model number through sears parts direct and some other web sites with out any luck. Did you get the OEM part number for that magnatron? I crossed one of the numbers you provide that is on the magnatron and I got p#6324W1A001H. Attached is a link to this part. It shows available. Also, this crossed to another magnatron of 10QBP1006.

We would be willing to ship it here to Toledo and then ship it to your address in Canada if that would be cost effective for you . We would do this at our cost only on shipping . If interested you can buy the part and ship it here and we would then pay for shipping to your address and you could reimburse us for shipping cost. Let us know, it would be no problem for us. With that amp draw it definitely seems to be the magnatron that is at fault. I could not look up your model number. please double check that model number and also get me the part number for that magnatron and I will see if I can get you a magnatron that will work.

. that is the model #. the #s on the magnetron are 2m246 and ofogf and 012554. the diode # are esjc13 -125 05. I saw the magnetron on parts select site but they won’t ship to Canada.

Hi. Yes a magnatron almost always tests good with a meter even though it is bad. A lot of times they are loud when they go bad. It will have a loud humming noise. I would check by amp draw. put a kilowatt meter in the outlet and set it to check amps. place a cup of water in the unit and start it on a cook cycle. If you are drawing at least 3-4 amps and its not cooking then you most likely have a bad magnatron. Always replace the diode with a new magnatron.
