All the newer style washers have pretty much the same style of pump on them no matter what the brand, and pretty much all the same internal components. Typically what we see in the field, is clothing materials getting stuck in the impellers of the pump, binding it up. If the pump is partially tied up and still used, most likely you will need to replace the pump itself, they are not designed to work under extra stress! Once the internal components are damaged they typically do not operate the same ever again. It is defiantly worth the time and effort to try and clear all the debris first and try and salvage the original pump, however plan on maybe having to do the work again. We attached a common top load Maytag pump replacement video for you!
Good Luck!
