Can you give me some help, I would appreciate it.
First let me tell you, my dryer is completely apart! When the dryer was put on “Time Dry” it did not dry the clothes. It at first got slightly warm. And then went thru the whole time without drying the clothes.
What would you consider the most likely part(s) to be ? And how would I go about testing the component(s) with VOM?
Thanks for your help and time, Rich.

What have you tried so far?

As I said, I had taken the dryer completely apart, then I got stuck not knowing what else to do.

HI. There could be multiple things causing your dryer to not heat. Since it did give you some heat, I would imaging the fuses are good. You would not get any heat at all if they were bad. I have attached a few videos of LG dryers that are not heating. Make sure the venting is clear and the blower housing in the dryer. A clogged vent or housing will cause the heat to short cycle. You will still get heat but it will not stay on long enough to dry clothes very well. You could also have bad gas coils. When they go bad they will typically give you some heat at the beginning of the cycle and then they warm up and fail. They wont work again until they cool down which could be towards the end of the cycle. Take a look and let me know what you find out.

Hi Brian, Thanks for your quick answer! [Of course it’s the weekend, I wouldn’t know who got mad at you that you have to work on a Saturday. But I guess everybody has to earn a living.] First does the LG gas dryer have thermal fuses? I couldn’t tell by looking and I won’t know to look. Where would the “Hi Limit Thermal Cut Off” be located? And what part [#] would I order? The igniter I think I figured where that is. The Gas coils I know where they are. I don’t think they offer them separately [only with the gas valve]. Can they be tested before I got a new one? By the way Would you be willing to guide me putting a new one in? Since the dryer is completely apart I would like to replace the most obvious components that can go bad now, so I would have to do this assembling all over again to get the dryer working. Since the motor and the drum turn I’ll use the same belt. I had replaced the lint filter recently I’ll forgo that. Thanks again Rich
  • The best way to diagnose this unit would be to run it and see what exactly is working or not working. You said you got some heat from the unit. Before you started taking this unit apart were you getting some heat or no heat at all? This will lead us in the right direction and narrow it down for us. There are many different parts to cause a no heat issue. The hi limit fuse and t-stat are m220 and m230 on the parts diagram I attached for you. They are on the burner tube. It does show the gas valve as one assembly and the coils are not separate. You can test the hi limit fuses for continuity with a multi meter. IF they have continuity they are good. The flame sensor is M240 and on the burner tube as well. IT should have continuity as well. THe ingiter usually will read about 90 ohms or so. M550 and M560 are your thermistor and blower housing thermostat. The t-stat should have continuity.
