Recently, we experienced some frost buildup on the door of the freezer as the door did not close completely. Soon after that incident, our icemaker has not worked correctly.
It is not producing ice.
I have replaced the water filter and the water dispenser is working properly with good water flow. It has been removed and reinstalled to assure it clicked into place. AS a note, we have very good water pressure throughout the house.
I have removed the lower rear cover and checked resistance to the water valves. All three valves are performing electrically.
I have unplugged the refrigerator, disconnected the electrical and turned the water supply off to allow the freezer to defrost completely. After powering up, I turned the icemaker to the on position, and it made one tray of ice. It did not eject the ice to the ice drawer. I waited hours. Only by holding the switch in the on position did the icemaker eject the ice from the tray. Then the ice sat atop the tines. The icemaker did not refill and no further ice has been produced.

I know you said you experienced some frost buildup on the inside door of the freezer. Did you find out what was causing the air leakage ? It could be you dispenser flap not closing or a door seal issue. Also look for food hitting inside door liner not letting the door close all of the way. I need you to check the freezer temperatures, it should be -5 degrees to +10 degrees for the ice maker to harvest properly and drop ice. It has a thermostat inside the ice maker needs to verify the ice is frozen before it drops the cubes. If you do not have a thermometer , put a quart of ice cream in the freezer and make sure it stays solid, ice cream has to be at least 5 degrees above zero to stay solid. Do you have good water flow through the dispenser ? If you do not you could have a restricted water saddle valve that ties in to your house water line to supply water to the refrigerator. Next you will need to force the ice maker through a harvest cycle and make sure it has a water fill of is 85 to 95cc (2.75 to 3.25 oz) . Once it fills remove the ice maker and measure water amount. If it is low water fill you could have a partially plugged fill tube see link below, or calcium and lime deposits in the water in let valve. Hopefully its a restricted valve . If all of the water supply is correct and you have good temperatures in the freezer and the ice maker can harvest manually you will need to replace the ice maker. Test Cycling
Press the momentary contact on the ON/OFF switch for approximately 15 seconds. Ice maker
will continue to complete the cycle.
Water Fill Volume
The water fill can be adjusted without removing the ice maker cover. To adjust the fill size,
remove the small round plug next to the On/Off Switch. Insert a #2 Phillips screwdriver into
the hole about an inch or until it engages the Water Fill Adjustment Screw. Turn the screw
clockwise to reduce the fill size; turn the screw counterclockwise to increase the fill size. One
turn equals approx 20cc (0.68 oz). The correct fill is 85 to 95cc (2.75 to 3.25 oz). When a
water valve is replaced, check the fill volume.

Hey Matt, Answers – Door seal is okay, though the magnet could be stronger. The mentioned issue frost issue was from frozen pizza holding the door slightly open. Temperature in freezer is plenty cold. Therm readout on door is always 0F to 2F. Water fill will occur once, but not repeat, unless I turn off icemaker, and unplug refrig. Then I can get it to refill again. Obviously not a great choice for parties, right? So, from your response I take it the Water Saddle Valve is the valve the house supply line connects to. If this were blocked, how would I get water from the in-door water dispenser? We have good flow through the water dispenser. Glasses fill pretty fast. I think my next step is to force the cycle once again and see what happens. Will post you then. Dan

Dan Yes the saddle valve connects to the house water line and then sends water up to the water inlet valves for your water dispenser and Ice maker. If you are getting good water pressure through the valve and your ice maker fill is 85 to 95cc (2.75 to 3.25 oz). We know you are getting power to the ice maker because it is going through one cycle. The next step is replacing the ice maker.

UPDATE: Ran icemaker thru several harvest cycles. Each time water filled to 3.25 oz., on the button. So the water tube is not clogged and the water saddle valve does not appear restricted. Would that confirm the icemaker is the issue? Have reinstalled and am now waiting to see if it has learned to cycle on its’ own, though, realistically the only one trained here was me on how to remove an icemaker. Gimme your thoughts when you can.
