Customer called for service on his icemaker…. after replacing the water valve to no avail, I found that the compartment in the ceiling with the icemaker and fan assembly was around 25-28°F, which I knew was too warm for the icemaker to operate. Yet, the bottom freezer compartment is well cold enough, in the single digits (2-5°F).
I removed the icemaker assembly to check whether the fan behind the icemaker was running, and isolating it with the diagnostic mode confirmed that it was. I also was able to feel a good flow of cold air coming from the rear ducting from the freezer. What am I missing here? Why is the ice comp. not getting cold enough?

Hello
See the service manual links below and also see the Service bulletin Fascia Heater Kit. If your fan is not running normal you will need to check the evaporator coil for frost build up or a possible starved coil. You will then need to run the unit through the diagnostic mode.
