Hello,
I followed your video for diagnosing my Kitchenaid (ksrl25fxms02) refrigerator’s ice maker as it had stopped producing ice.
I want to thank you for the clear presentation of the material. If was a refreshing change to have some clear, concise steps on interpreting the optical diagnostic codes and conducting the manual test of the ice maker’s harvest cycle that did not leave me wondering if I was doing something wrong.
Unfortunately, I am still getting mixed results that lead me to believe that perhaps the ice maker and the optical boards may both have problems.
I’m hoping that your experience will make some sense of what I am seeing and help me determine the best course of action.
After viewing your video, I unplugged my refrigerator, jumpered test points T and H then plugged the refrigerator back in and depressed the switch in the door so that the beam path was unbroken. I was surprised to see that the blinking led went from the 2 blink, 1 second pause code to a solid light. Previously, it continued the 2 blink, 1 second pause code no matter what i did. The harvest cycle never started during this first test, which led me to believe that the ice maker itself was bad.
I decided to repeat the test in precisely the same way and got a different result this time and a few additional times. In these subsequent tests, the led continued to blink in the 2 blink, 1 second pause pattern as it had before I followed the steps in your video and did not go to a solid light
This behavior leads me to suspect both the ice maker and the optical boards.
I wonder if you have observed this behavior before and if it is to be expected or if you have some thoughts on what the next steps should be.
Hopefully this makes sense.
Thank you

What have you tried so far?

Steps described above in addition to continuity test of inlet valve and verification of sufficient water supply line pressure. Inlet valve showed continuity to be somewhat inconsistent, but present. This is perhaps due to my old, cheap multimeter. Water pressure was sufficient beyond any doubt. Freezer temperature is good as well.

Hello
I have provided you with the diagnostics sheet for your ice maker and optics. Go through the diagnostics test by these instructions and it will confirm any defective parts from the ice maker, water inlet valve & optics. Let us know once you have diagnosed the issue and if you need further assistance. See links below. Matt Ace technician

Hi Matt, I appreciate the response. I probably should have stated it in my original question, but I have these documents already. I walked through the test procedure and received mixed results, as I indicated earlier. I was hoping to get the benefit of your experience in troubleshooting these units to tell me why the diagnostic routine for the optic boards would appear to suggest that the boards were good in the first test (LED turned on and remained illuminated when the door switch was depressed), then fail in all subsequent tests (LED continues to blink 2 times, go dark for one second, then repeat even with the door switch depressed). Testing the ice maker harvest cycle by jumpering test points T & H did not produce any activity in the ice maker, suggesting that the ice maker itself is problematic. You’ve dealt with these units far more often than me I’m sure and I wanted to see if maybe you’d seen similar behavior that might be explained by some condition
