I wrote in yesterday and received some links to tech sheets, on this unit. However, I don’t see that these cover how to get reversing valve into the “home” position. The sealed system has a leak and i’m trying to find it. I have one side charged, which is holding pressure, now but I don’t know which side it is. Please advise

Hello
Please see the parts link below for your model. I do not see a diverter / reversing valve on the sealed system breakdown. Are you sure you have one on this model ? I see the compressor inverter board but not a valve. This is a Kenmore refrigerator made by LG. I have a Whirlpool reversing valve video below that can give you some some help if you model has one. well it looks like a typical reversing valve to me. It has 2 lines coming off going to two cap tubes and one larger going to the dryer with a six pin molex connector connected to it . it’s located to the right of the compressor mounted under the freezer compartment.

The model # is correct but it is a Kenmore Elite 3 door unit with an evaporator coil in the freezer and the fresh food sections. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. So I need to get the valve to the home position. thanks
  • Since this is a Kenmore made LG unit we are limited on literature. See link below on the exact same valve you have on your unit . It may be the same as the Kenmore. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5pf8gijlqvyxgvg/MFL68488602_140916.pdf?dl=0 3-22 CAUTION : Sealed System Repair Before making a sealed system repair : Start with the power cord unplugged from the outlet. Plug in the power cord and between 6 and 12 seconds after it has been pugged in, unplug it from the power source. this will allow both sides of the 3 way valve to be opened to allow for proper evacuation. 3-23 3 Way Valve Service Whole picture of refrigerator R-Evaporator F-Evaporator The 3 way valve has plastic parts inside, so always wrap it with a wet cloth before servicing when using a torch. 1) Always replace the 3 way valve if there is a leak at any one of the 3 tubes coming from it. 2) Service in replacement of valve (valve failure) Perform service in the same method as above.
