The items on the top shelf are above 40f and the items at the bottom shelf are freezing. I tested the heating element and it’s good, fan seemed to have an intermittent issue since the bottom was iced over, so I replaced the main control board since kitcheaide fridges seem to have this issue and it worked for two weeks now it’s doing it again. Please advice.
Changed main control board after testing the defrost components and verifying they were good.

Hi. Did you find a defrost issue the first time? Is does sound like an air flow issue in the refrigerator given what your Temps are. If it’s not a defrost issue causing restricted airflow, then it could be the evaporator fan motor not working properly. Especially If you have replaced the control board already. I would be looking for that first.

Yes the bottom was solid ice, another company went out and told customer to defrost the fridge for 24hrs then it’d be ok, I tested everything I could and noted that the styrofoam housing around the fan was cracked badly by the last company trying to remove it before defrosting. I defrosted unit, checked defrost system was ok which led me to the main control board.

Can you send me a video on the evap fan replacement. I’m thinking the prior companies tech may have reversed the fan assembly and thus causing this issue. Tge original complaint was that veggies were freezing. If you can me a detailed video it’d help.

The drain under the evaporator in the refrigerator section was solid ice or the evaporator itself was solid ice? Usually a defrost issue wll cause a frost build up and not solid ice buildup. Could have a clogged drain tube causing all the trouble. I would replace that cover that is cracked also.

No the evaporator was iced up like it wasn’t defrosting, not a solid sheet of ice.

We currently do not have a video on this fan motor. One thing I ran into before on this unit was the refrigerator. Shelves. It was freezing food in the refrigerator. I called tech line and they told me that the 3 crisper drawers have to be stacked on top of each other at the bottom. I moved the crisper drawer back down and never had another issue.
