The flap of ice dispenser (or Ice Route Assy) that usually only open when dispensing ice is opening and closing continuously. It only stop once I disconnect the wire of the ice route assy on he back of the dispenser display. Can I resolve the issue by changing a new Ice Route Assy? Or is this a computer board issue?
I’ve also had local technician check out the fridge; they told me I need to get the entire upper left door (the door with the dispenser) replaced.
I am not quite sure if this can solve the issue since it is quite expensive to replace the door. I want to make sure this is the right way to solve it before I say yes to replace the door.
I disconnected the wire of the ice route assy to make the noise stop, but I now cannot dispense water or ice.

Hi. Did the tech say why the door needed to be replaced? A broken damaged wire in the door should be the only reason to replace the door that I can think of. I am not finding much info about this issue for this model. I did come across a couple of people with similar models that had broken wires where the wires enter the door through the hinge and another with a loose connector in the same location. I have seen faulty control boards on other brands and models with the same issue. If I recall right, I may have had a bad user interface for one as well. I would have to say wiring or the control board would be the most likely issue. I hope this helps.

Hi Brian Thank you for the reply. No the technician did not say why the door need to be replaced. I opened the dispenser display and did not see any wiring issues or at least none that I can see. Do you think I should replace the ice route assy or the control board?

Thats a tough one. You could take a look at the ice route assy to see if you find an issue with it. Check the switches and alignment of everything. If everything tests good I would replace the control. See if you can get parts from somewhere that takes returns on installed parts so you can return what you don’t need.

Do you have the video for changing the control board?
