Gas dryer keeps shutting off. I can sometimes get it to complete a full dry after a few start/stop cycles.
When I press ‘start’ either on auto or timed cycles, the dryer will start for about a minute, then stop. Or when the start is pressed, the relay clicks and the drum (I have the top removed) moves about a 1/4 inch. I then press off/then start buttons until the dryer starts (each unsuccessful try the relay clicks and the drum slightly moves). It may take ten off/start button cycles to get it to start again. After which, it may stop after 1-5 minutes or go the whole dry cycle. Sometimes if the start/off button can’t get it to start, then pressing the control button to turn off the lights and then control button to turn on lights and then start after that sometimes works.
thermal fuse and thermister replaced. multimeter checks of the machine board, motor, and belt switch (seem ok but multimeter having issues, a new one arrives today).
diagnostic mode shows the “88”, when I open the door “39”, and when I bridge the moisture sensors “9”. No error code it seems.

Hello
There are a number of possibilities. In diagnostic mode, indicators all on and 88 in display, that is normal. I would start by running the unit through the diagnostic test on page #4 in the technician manual link below. This will give you any stored error codes and guide you to the next step for the proper diagnosis.

New multimeter arrived. Retested the P1-3 and P1-4 resistance on the machine control board and got 1.8 ohms. Per the page 5 test below, between 1 – 6 ohms say to replace the control board. Time to replace that (expensive) board or something else to try/test first? TEST #2 Motor Circuit Test 2. Access the machine control electronics and measure the resistance across P1-3and P1-4. See Accessing & Removing the Electronic Assemblies, page 13.➔If resistance across P1-3 and P1-4 is in the range of 1 to 6 ohms, replace the machine control electronics.➔Otherwise, go to step 3.

If all of the tests point to the board. That is your only option besides replacing the unit. Sometimes you can get rebuilt boards on Ebay at a lower cost.
