good starting point to troubleshoot this brand new machine…120v ac each leg including feeding back through neutral.5 volts difference between right hot leg and neutral. what the??????

Hi. Where are you checking your voltage readings at? At the outlet or where the plug attaches to the dryer on the terminal block you should have 120V from each leg to neutral. Then between the two legs you should get 240V. If you are not getting theses voltage readings then you do not have correct power coming into the unit. You have an issue with in the outlet or house circuit and will need an electrician. .

thank You Brian for timely response… disconnected wires from block voltages are correct on feed….so neutral voltage is feeding back from machine …. my opinion….your next move if you were here….

If I understand correctly you’re testing at the terminal block. With the wires attached you’re getting 120 volts from neutral to ground? With the wires disconnected from the dryer you’re getting proper voltage? 120 on both legs 240 between both legs and 0 from neutral to ground? If this is so, I would make sure that you have hooked up the power cord properly for a 3 wire or 4-wire installation
