The cooktop light on my stove would not go out when all of the burners were turned off. I found your video on fixing the switches when this happens. I was able to remove the faulty switch pretty easily thanks to your video. I am now waiting for the new switch to arrive. In the process, I have left the back panel off of the stove. I noticed last night that when I turn the switches for the burners that are still connected that they will sometimes spark. Is this normal? My fear is a fire hazard. Am I witnessing all of the switches going bad all at once? Or is this normal or possibly just dust getting burned off and once the back panel goes back on will resolve itself.

The switches do not arc or spark when not in use and it only happens when the initial turn happens. So again, is this an issue?

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your question. If the switches are sparking I would recommend replacing the ones that are sparking. I do want to confirm that there are no loose connections to any of the existing switches, or wires you may have disconnected. If the bad switch is still in place that could also have an impact on the other switches. So to start I would replace the bad switch and confirm the sparking at the other switches continues or stops.

Just to be clear, you can’t see any sparks at all unless you are behind the unit with the back panel off and you are looking into the switch.

Dave, you may see a little spark when looking into the switch when you initially do turn it on. If it is actually inside the switch, and on initial start.
