My dishwasher overflows after about 5 minutes of running. Not sure where to go at this point after everything i’ve tried to fix it so far.
i’ve verified that the return tube going into the garbage disposal is clear and that the drain is not clogged. I’ve visually confirmed that the dishwasher is ACTUALLY overflowing, the float-check does trip and turns on the drain pump which does successfully drain the water out of the dishwasher. I’ve verified that there are no major obstructions in the sump area and cleaned the filters which weren’t that dirty since i’d cleaned them about a month before
I have already replaced the following components in the following order:
drain return check valve (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IRH31XQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1): This was in fact damaged with the flapper portion missing
lower door seal (https://www.appliancepartspros.com/bosch-seal-door-744884-ap5691303.html): this looked pretty dirty, especially at the corners
water inlet valve (https://www.appliancepartspros.com/bosch-valve-access-628334-ap5691117.html): no obvious issues with this, just the next step in trouble shooting
water inlet housing (https://www.appliancepartspros.com/bosch-water-inlet-744882-ap5691301.html): This had a lot of built-up ‘gunk’ in teh region where the black float sits. i was sure replacing this would fix the issue – do dice.
I’ve checked the dishwashers function after replacing each item and, while it took a little while to figure out it was overflowing and i wasn’t just seeing the effects of a bad seal, i see the same thing out of the dishwasher each time. When i run the dishwasher, it continuously beeps a couple minutes after starting but keeps running while the beeping continues until the machine shuts off due to the overflow and tripping of the float switch at the bottom of the dishwasher.

Hi. I have attached a service manual for a similar unit. Have you checked error codes yet? See what codes you get. Is the unit really overflowing to the point of leakin/ too much water in the machine? Or does it just think it is overflowing and drain out? You could have a faulty float switch or flow meter if they are equipped on your model.

BTW – what i’ve been referring to as the drain tube coming from the base of the door down to the plastic base under the washer is ACTUALLY called the OVERFLOW CHANNEL (AP5691298). It’s not a tube or drain hose as much as it is a formed plastic hollow “L” shaped thing that leads water coming out of the front of the machine to the bottom of the machine where it accumulates and trips the safety float switch

so, here’s some good news / bad news. good news is that i got it to stop overflowing. i put a voltmeter to the water inlet valve and saw that it was simply staying open. on that basis, i figured it was time to replace the master control board. I’ve done that and now the washer no longer fills without end – no more overflowing- yay! now for the bad news. it doesn’t seem like the washer is filling at all. about 7 minutes into the cycle, the washer starts beeping but nothing really happens. i waited another 10 minutes into the beeping, opened the washer and there was no water inside. i turned the washer off to stop the beeping and that’s where i left it.

The beeping should indicate an error code. I would check for error codes first

So, for anyone following this thread, i’ll post the successful conclusion. i replaced the master control board late at night and was tired enough that i forgot to turn the water back on. Doh! after turning the water back on, the beeping stopped and the dishwasher was back to normal. So, the final fix was replacing the master control board. thanks for your help, Brian!
