Power outage, temp. alarm comes on, won’t stop. no response from display board. Replaced connections on display board.
Now I get response from display board but nothing else comes on.
Reset power one more time- Compressor comes on, stays running but interior lights and display beep and flash, total power interuption to everything but the compressor.
Does this still sound like the main control at the bottom?
Maybe if you tell your customer in this case that he gets two controls for the price of one, it won’t be as bad. You’ll find that most people go online before we get involved to check prices, etc. At least in my market, this is what I can expect. It’s doubly frustrating to explain why some internet outlets charge less than field service for parts, but I find that most people can be convinced that the repair is a better alternative than the scrapyard.
I think we all agree that the prices of parts is a sham in most cases, and this is one avenue we need to explore further as we go on. It’s not as though the cost of circuit boards has gone up over the years of service.

The augur motor becoming shorted has caused a lot of issues on this unit, especially main control failures. Often times a control board will be replaced without checking the augur circuit, only to have the board fail the next time the ice is used. This was only prevalent on the 2009-2010 units . Make sure you check it.

Yes. If you order the display board, there will likely be a power board in the box as well.

Love these expensive repairs. Pretty soon all of my customers will be calling the manufacturer to see if I’m overcharging for these electronic boards. In the last few years I have seen rise on these parts prices that put more money in those big pockets and make it harder for me to price a job for profit that the customer.
