THIS IS A MAYTAG STACKABLE WASHER DRYER COMBO. THE AGITATOR WITH SHAFT INCLUDED FLOATS WHEN THE WASHER FILLS WITH WATER. I LOOKED AT THE SPLINE AND IT SEEMS TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION, NO CUTS OR SCRATCHES. IS THIS A BEARING PROBLEM AND WILL IT REQUIRE A SPANNER WRENCH? HELP! THANKS, TODD FROM NY.

Hi Todd,
If the agitator is floating up and it is at attached to the transmission shaft, then it sounds like you will need to replace the transmission. The shaft should not have that kind of play in it. You will need a spanner wrench to remove the nut.
