thanks brian. its the cover that I can’t get off. I took the screw out of the side of the cover but there is still a tab or something holding it on. I don’t want to break it.i know that there are 2 screws holding the actual housing in place ,if only I can get the cover off. the coustomer already broke the little door to the housing but the filter was still working. I thought the filter was a pop out so I pushed on it and now its stuck in there. the water is shut off ,does it need the water pressure to pop out the filter? somewhere in the lining there is a tab holding the cover on, but where?is the filter been stuck in there preventing the cover from coming off. I know these are probably stupid questions but I’m thinking every possible solution.thanks

ps. just watched the video by Christian.on model #mff2055yewoo. made on april 27 2014. that looks like the one. he says there is a tab on the liner , is it on the back or side wall. he says to angel it out. does that mean take the cover at the front and angle out or from the top and pull down. he doesn’t show how he took it out in the video. he only shows taking the screw out. thanks.
  • I think this is the video you are referring to. https://www.appliancevideo.com/maytag-mff2055yew00-refrigerator-repair-water-filter-housing-is-leaking-water-filter-housing/ I believe you are going to pull the front of the cover over to the left as you remove it. There is a tab in the back of the cover that goes into a hole in the back of the liner. Also, I think there may be very small tabs around the front of the cover that snap or clip onto the front of the housing. Try to pry in between the front of the cover and housing with a small flat screw driver to release them. Careful not to break any plastic.

hi. got the cover off. wasn’t easy. used a flathead screwdriver on the filter, had to pry down on it to release it. my part supplier said there is a lot of problems with the filters getting stuck in these units.when the filter was out the rest was easy. thanks for your help.
  • Awesome. I am glad you got it with out breaking anything. You are welcome!
