Thank you. I replaced all of this last year as well and the unit was fine until this week.. Would that mean the thermostat has failed again? If so, what would cause the unit to keep freezing up?
-
I would suspect the thermistor service pointer is causing your freezing issue. I would step by step do what is in the service pointer. This will most likely correct your issue permenately.
-
You replaced the bimetal thermostat not the thermistor correct ?
-
yes. I remounted it in the location listed in the service pointer, ensured it would not move as well as the other piece that is fed through the outside of the unit that is attached to the thermistor.

but I also replaced the thermistor

I would replaced the bimetal thermostat, shut the unit down for 24Hours to completely thaw out. Make sure your freezer and refrigerator door seals are at 100% . If they are not it will cause humidity and ice to form on coil. Check to make sure your interior light is not staying on causing humidity. I had one last week with this exact same condition. The door when closed was leaving the light on causing the unit to frost up over time.

Thank you for the information. I did remember 1 thing that might have contributed to the additional humidity. I changed the water filter earlier in the week and for some reason it was leaking. We saw water coming from the drop down door, but the filter was fully engaged and installed. My wife and I drained the small door and removed the filter and reseated it and it stopped the leak. Could this have caused the excess moisture that would cause the humidity? If so why would this leak with a new filter? Thank you again for any help and information on this

Sometimes the filter head goes bad. It is spring loaded with a rubber seal in it. We have had to change the head many times after a filter replacement, the heads go bad maybe 5% of the time. And yes, that would cause moisture and humidity if leaking.

do you happen to have a part 3 for the filter head?
