Stainless steel appliances are stunningly beautiful in a kitchen, however, they tend to show everything like pesky fingerprints. While you can go out and purchase specialty cleaners, why not save your pocketbook and use baby oil and dish soap? Instructables user amalkhan shows you exactly how to get a sparkly stainless steel appliance in no time with these two common household items. As suggested in amalkhan’s guide, it’s important to know the direction or grain of your stainless steel appliance. By going with the grain on your refrigerator, dishwasher or oven, you will achieve optimal shininess without the risk of adding more debris into the crevices (by going against the grain). Amalkhan suggests using a soft, cotton cloth, though paper towels work just fine but do leave behind some lint that’s easy to wipe away. Add a drop or two of dish soap to your cloth along with some water to make your cloth damp, and wipe along the grain of your stainless steel. Say “goodbye” to smudges, fingerprints and oily smears—your appliance will be clean in no time. Then, you’ll want to take a towel and dry off your appliance. Next comes the polishing. Grab up another cotton cloth and add a couple dabs of baby oil, and repeat the above process by wiping with the grain. You can’t go wrong with a clean and shiny appliance to match that breathtaking kitchen of yours. Check out the link below for the full guide.
