The use of stainless steel incorporated into kitchen appliances has been on the rage in the recent days for a myriad of reasons. Stainless steel not only gives appliances a professional finish, but also that beautiful appearance that’s so great to look at. The only problem is being able to keep it clean— handprints and fingerprints all over the surface.
Commercial stainless steal cleaners do not always work perfectly well, and a general wipe just can't do for the refrigerator.
Over at Instructables, user Jedi_zombie85 uses flour to polish stainless steel anything.
You can use this on pretty much all polished metal (not painted) inc your stainless steel sink, taps, cutlery or ANYTHING you have that’s stainless steel. And it only takes one ingredient. Yes. It’s flour. Imagine that.
First, clean your refrigerator using warm water, detergent and a piece of soft cloth. Then, dry the fridge using another cloth. It’s imperative the surface is fully dry before polishing it.
Next, sprinkle a little flour on the surface of the refrigerator (avoid using large wasteful piles of flour). Evenly spread the flour over the surface of the fridge using a microfiber cloth. Begin buffing the surface by applying firm, even pressure in small circular motion across entire surface. Do this several times until the steel appears to be shiny and smooth. Finally, remove the excess flour by wiping it away using the same piece of cloth you initially used—make sure to toss the flour out by shaking it into the trash can.
That’s it! No embarrassing stains, prints, or streaks—just a perfect, shiny refrigerator.
