Are you in the need for a ton of freshly, ground black pepper? Feel like you’re grinding away at never-ending specks and getting nowhere? Stop wasting time and valuable wrist power. Let’s take a look at what Food Network host, Alton Brown has up his sleeve in the web series, Cook Smart. Bust out your power drill; it’s time to get some peppery action going on—you’re going to make yourself a pepper drill. In the video above, Brown grabs up his cordless drill and connects it to a pepper mill axle. To get away with this trick, make sure your grinder’s top can easily be removed. Using a utility knife (be careful!), Brown cuts out the bottom third of an empty 35 mm film canister and a small hole in the cap. From there, he fits his concoction on top of the grinder and attaches his power drill to the pepper axle. You definitely will want to make sure your drill fits snug, so having an adjustable bit holder is a must for the perfect fit. Finally, turn on the cordless drill on a low setting, and hold onto the pepper grinder. You’ve just got yourself a peppery, pulverizing machine. Now, is a pepper drill an every day necessity? Probably not. If you have loads of veggies to pepper up, or you want to be the talk of the party with your ingenuity—this trick sure has you covered. Heck, even if you have just a dinner plate to spice up, no one here’s judging. Go ahead and give it a shot. Check out the link below for Alton Brown’s detailed instructions on his site:
