Is your kitchen pantry a mess? It’s easy to pile up soup cans or any canned goods especially when a good deal is going on. The only bad thing about it is, when you end up re-buying that can of chili that’s been tucked away in the cabinet corner for a decade. You already had it in the first place, and you just made another pointless grocery store run. Let’s stop this madness. Elisa Bernick, editor of The Family Handyman, shows you how to organize your cans in your kitchen cabinets using a couple of wire closet shelving racks. It’s a super easy process that shouldn’t take you too long to do. It’s a matter of measuring the interior of your cabinet space, and snipping your shelving about a 1/2 inch shorter than your measured space with a bolt cutter. Then, place the closet shelving on the base of the cabinet—it will naturally fall into place on an angle. If you’re looking to install a top shelf with a wire rack, it’s basically the same process as the bottom shelf. Though, you’ll want to install a screw on each side of the cabinet walls, with about 3/4 inch hanging out; this is what your wire rack will rest on. Slide your rack right in the cabinet, tilt it on an angle, sit it on the screws, and you’re good to go. No more hunting around for that soup that magically disappeared.
