There’s an art to nuke leftovers in the microwave. Many times, if you’re like me, you just pile up your grub and start the countdown—only to be disappointed with cold spots in your food along with the piping hot areas that burn your taste buds off.
That nonsense ends today.
The folks over at TheKitchn give a great tip to evenly heat leftovers:
Instead of piling everything at the center, spread it in a circle around the outer edge of the plate and leave a hole in the center. The more surface area the food takes up, the better.
By arranging your grub in a circle, you’ll have evenly heated leftovers since your food will be heated around the edges as opposed to having a cold center when you pile things up. The reason? Radio waves from a microwave are short-traveling; so by rearranging your food, you compensate for that (and it doesn’t take too much work).
Go ahead and give it a try.
