Thanksgiving will be here in no time, and whether you’re hosting or making a ton of side dishes, the ultimate (almost daunting) question is, are you prepared? While it’s great to prepare in advance, create menus, take down a list of what everyone is bringing (including yourself), grocery shopping weeks beforehand, etc…there’s one little thing you probably have overlooked…your refrigerator! Looking for Thanksgiving tips and tricks? Empty out that fridge of yours. You don’t want to find yourself with an overflowing refrigerator that won’t close. Toss out spoiled or expired leftovers, dressings or other food items. Those jellies, pickles, olives and salsas that have never been opened are taking up space in your refrigerator, and can be stored in your cabinets. Reorganize and prioritize for a stressful-free holiday (easier said than done, we know). If you need more room and your refrigerator just isn’t cutting it, store produce that doesn’t need to be refrigerator like potatoes or apples in a cool, dry place; perhaps a section in your garage will work for the time being. If you have a ton of prepared side dishes that must be cooled the day before Thanksgiving, but just don’t have the fridge space (even after emptying & reorganizing), grab yourself a cooler, pack in the ice, and toss in a thermometer. You’ll want to keep your dishes food-temperature safe; a few words of wisdom—stay below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
