If you have a ton of grapes to cut up for your latest recipe creation or for your little one who is craving a grape snack, there’s a way to speed up the process of slicing up a bunch of grapes. Facebook user, Laura Goodhue snapped a video of her husband slicing grapes in half in literally seconds. It’s one of those things that you think to yourself, gee, why didn’t I think of that? While it doesn’t take that much effort to cut grapes in half, by the time you remove and wash them from the vine, anytime saved helps. Plus, with a demanding little one or never-ending food prep that seems to take forever, no one can complain about speeding up the process.
The tactic is super simple and doesn’t work with just grapes, but you can apply this method to your garden cherry tomatoes, too. Grab a handful of your clean and de-vined grapes or tomatoes and plop them down on a plate. Make sure your grapes are not frozen (though, that is a delicious popsicle-like snack)! The way Goodhue’s hubby placed them on the plate sounded as if they were frozen—totally not the case, and I’m sure your efforts would not be a success! Place another plate of the same size directly on top of your fruit. Carefully use a serrated knife and saw back and forth through the opening on the two plates. Before you know it, you have cut your time in half (the puns are killing me here!) with delicious halves of grapes or cherry tomatoes. With such an easy and intuitive way of slicing things up, this method is also more than likely to work with other soft fruits or veggies—it’s always worth a shot for a task that will literally takes seconds to accomplish.
