How to Ripen Bananas in 1 Hour

You’re just dying to make that banana nut bread of yours, but you’re out of ripened bananas. Instead of waiting for days to enjoy your favorite baked goods involving ‘nanas, why not use your oven to ripen them instead? It’s super easy and only takes one hour of your time. Now, you sadly cannot use this following technique on super green bananas; rather, they should be their normal yellow self or slightly under ripe. You’ll want to place your bananas on a cookie sheet with the peels still on. Set your oven to 300ºF, and pop ‘em in the oven for one hour. The bananas will turn black, but the inside will be ripened and sweet. The heat from your oven helps activate the ripening process from the properties of the bananas’ sugars. While they will be hot, give it sometime before you peel the bananas—you could always toss them in the refrigerator or freezer for a few minutes to take off the edge. It’s that simple. Now, go ahead and make your banana-based desserts or baked goods. You can even toss them in a smoothie. No more waiting for days on end for your delicious treats to be made.
